Irritating Auto DM-ing in twitter

Twitter is gradually become scratch my back & I’ll scratch your back. You’ll get 10 followers each day,  maximum of them are @marketingHead, @SpamHead, @AnyHowSale etc. If you don’t follow them, of course they will unfollow you within a week & if you follow them then they will send you auto DMs (Direct Message).
I’ve just stumbled a site http://nichetitans.com (@nichetitans), who has posted a nice article

Now you can pretty much stop auto-DMs all together in Twitter… here’s how:

We’re going to go to the top 2 places that allow people to send auto-DMs to their new followers and opt out.

1. Go to @optmeout’s Twitter page. (http://twitter.com/optmeout)
2. Follow @optmeout and wait for them to follow you back (few minutes).
3. After they follow you, send @optmeout a Direct Message (it can say anything).
4. Then you can unfollow @optmeout.

Now, anyone who uses TweetLater to send their auto-DMs, will not send one to you anymore.

Now, we have one more place to opt-out… SocialToo.

1. Go to http://socialtoo.com.
2. Click “Create Account to Auto Follow & More!”
3. Create an account.
4. Once you’ve created an account and logged in, click the “Preferences” tab in the upper right.
5. Check where it says “NEW! Turn off automatic Direct Messages from SocialToo and other services?”.
6. Uncheck any other things you don’t want to do/have done.
7. Scroll down and click “Submit.”

That’s all you have to do.  Probably 99% of the auto-DMs on Twitter you would have received, you will no longer receive!
